Abstract

Cervical Carcinoma Presenting as Postmenopausal and Postcoital Bleeding in Two Women Over age 60: A Case Series Background/Introduction: Cervical cancer often presents silently until advanced stages. Postmenopausal and postcoital bleeding in older women is often underestimated or misattributed. Problem Highlighted by the Case(s): This report discusses two women over 60 presenting with atypical bleeding and a hard cervical mass found during pelvic exam?highlighting the need for timely evaluation of alarming gynecologic symptoms. Case Presentation: A 68-year-old woman with postmenopausal bleeding and a 64-year-old woman with postcoital bleeding who presented one week apart. On physical examination, they were both found to have a hard, fixed cervical mass on bimanual pelvic examination. Both patients had Cervical biopsy done and samples were sent for Histopathology. Findings revealed squamous cell carcinoma -Keratinizing type. Conclusion/Outcome: These cases underscore the importance of not dismissing abnormal vaginal bleeding in postmenopausal women. Early pelvic exam and prompt biopsy can facilitate diagnosis and treatment of cervical malignancy. In addition, much emphasis should be placed on health education and early screening
