Prof. Amelia Pilar Rauter is a Full Professor of Chemistry at the Faculty of Sciences, University of Lisbon, where she also serves as President of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry. She holds a PhD equivalent (Doktor der Technischen Wissenschaft) from the Technische Universit?t Graz, Austria. A leading expert in carbohydrate chemistry, Prof. Rauter is the founder and head of Carbohydrate Chemistry research groups at CQB and CQE. Her work bridges organic chemistry, glycoscience, and health-focused drug discovery, particularly for diabetes, Alzheimer?s disease, and infections.
Prof. Rauter has coordinated numerous EU and international projects and supervised over 50 PhD and postdoctoral researchers. She is a former President of the International and European Carbohydrate Organizations and currently serves as Secretary of IUPAC Division III (Organic and Biomolecular Chemistry). She is Editor-in-Chief of the Biopharmaceuticals section of Pharmaceuticals and has authored more than 150 scientific publications and several patents.
