Abstract

Buprenorphine- A Review With the growing opioid epidemic in India and other nations around the world, there has been an upsurge in illegal activities, broken families, non- working population and other health- related hazards; yet roadblocks to proper treatment and rehabilitation facilities continue to exist nonetheless. Besides the role of Psychiatrists and Addiction Specialists, the role of social workers and policymakers are also crucial in the proper identification of patients in the community and for the proper implementation of Opioid Substitution Therapy (OST) services with opioid agonists like Buprenorphine. Understanding the molecule of Buprenorphine is hence essential to provide better treatment and care to patients, so that they can lead an illicit opioid- free life and well integrate in the community. This review article attempts to shed light on the diverse domains of Buprenorphine and also provide an insight on the latest research on Buprenorphine.
