Smart Monitoring and Blockchain-Enabled Assurance for Live Fish Supply Chains
Abstract
Ensuring the quality and safety of live fish during transportation is a critical challenge in the aquaculture supply chain, due to the sensitivity of fish to environmental variables such as temperature, humidity, and oxygen levels. Traditional monitoring methods often fall short in terms of accuracy, real-time responsiveness, and cost-effectiveness.
This talk presents a novel approach to address these challenges through a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) architecture integrated with deep learning for real-time assessment of storage conditions. The system includes an intelligent alert and monitoring mechanism to detect deviations from optimal parameters, and a blockchain-based security layer to guarantee data integrity and traceability throughout the logistics chain.
The proposed solution was validated using a Monte Carlo simulated dataset, achieving a notable accuracy of 95.3% in condition assessment. The alert system successfully provided real-time notifications of critical deviations, while the blockchain layer ensured tamper-proof, transparent data sharing among stakeholders.
This integrated architecture offers a scalable and secure solution to modernize live fish transportation, with significant implications for sustainability, quality assurance, and consumer trust in aquaculture systems.
