Biography

Michael Adedotun Oke is a Nigerian agricultural extension specialist and development practitioner with over two decades of experience in farm management, rural development, and agricultural training. He holds a Higher National Diploma in Agricultural Extension and Management from the Federal College of Forestry, Ibadan, and a National Diploma in General Agriculture from Lagos State Polytechnic. He is currently pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Farm Management and Extension at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Michael has served in various capacities including with the Abia and Federal Capital Territory Agricultural Development Programmes, where he has played key roles in extension services, farm input distribution, farmer training, and agricultural cooperative development. He is the founder of the Michael Adedotun Oke Foundation and President of Agric Link Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited. His work includes field-based research and training in areas such as rabbit production, fish farming, and sustainable agriculture. He has presented papers at international conferences and is an associate member of multiple research and development organizations. Michael is also actively engaged in environmental awareness initiatives, such as research on the implications of deforestation in Gbessa community, FCT. Driven by a passion for agriculture and community empowerment, he continues to advocate for innovative solutions to improve Nigeria’s agricultural value chains.

Research Interest

Agricultural extension, rural development, small livestock and fish farming, and sustainable agriculture. He focuses on value chain analysis, environmental impacts of deforestation, and improving farm management, marketing, and cooperative systems. His work aims to enhance productivity and livelihoods in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.

Michael Adedotun Oke is an agricultural extension specialist and development practitioner dedicated to improving rural livelihoods and promoting sustainable agricultural practices in Nigeria. His work centers on agricultural extension, small-scale livestock and aquaculture production, farm management, and rural cooperative development. Through hands-on experience with the Federal Capital Territory Agricultural Development Programme and community-based initiatives like the Michael Adedotun Oke Foundation, he has trained farmers in innovative techniques, including rabbit and fish farming, and facilitated access to agricultural inputs and technologies. His research explores challenges in the fish value chain, environmental consequences of deforestation and firewood use in rural communities, and the impacts of inflation on agricultural productivity. Oke’s practical and academic efforts are grounded in empowering farmers, addressing systemic inefficiencies, and promoting environmentally responsible agriculture to foster resilience and food security across Nigeria.
