Abstract

Optimization Techniques: A Game Changer in the Fight Against Infectious Diseases and Vaccine Development

The fight against global infectious diseases is at a critical juncture, with the need for innovative solutions to overcome challenges in vaccine development, distribution, and administration. Optimization techniques, widely applied in fields such as renewable energy and telecommunications, offer transformative potential when adapted to the healthcare sector. This keynote will delve into how these techniques can address key challenges in combating infectious diseases, from accelerating vaccine research to optimizing logistical systems for equitable access.

The discussion will highlight the use of metaheuristic algorithms for resource allocation, machine learning models for disease outbreak prediction, and network optimization to streamline vaccine distribution. Drawing parallels from my work in renewable energy optimization, I will showcase how these methodologies can be tailored to improve vaccine cold chain logistics and minimize costs while ensuring maximum reach. Real-world case studies and simulations will illustrate the profound impact of these approaches, particularly in low-resource settings.

By bridging the gap between advanced optimization frameworks and global health initiatives, this keynote aims to inspire interdisciplinary collaboration to build resilient healthcare systems capable of addressing both current and future infectious disease threats.
