- Investigating the role of innate immunity to influenza and malaria.
- Investigating the antimicrobial role of Dual Oxidase 1 and Myeloperoxidase in infectious diseases.
- Moving forward National Institute of Health-funded R01, R21 grants (generating and analyzing data, drafting annual progress reports, writing grants and papers, presenting data at local, national, and international meetings.
- Training and teaching undergraduate and graduate students, research technicians, and postdocs.
- Co-coordinating Immunology Journal Club, teaching Advanced Immunology (the inflammasome in infectious and autoimmune diseases) course to graduate students in Infectious Diseases
- Co-teaching Special Topics in Disease Intervention and teaching African Health Issues (Malaria, Tuberculosis, and HIV) to undergraduate students at the African Studies Institute, University of Georgia, Athens, GA.
- Coming up with ideas, writing, initiating collaborations and submitting NIH and CDC grant applications.
