Problem Statement: Certification is a critical governance control to ensure that users maintain only the least-privilege access necessary for their roles. However, when a decision is made to revoke access, the manual fulfillment process often does not occur immediately. Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for revocation can range from 3 days to 2 weeks. During this window, users may continue to leverage their access privileges, potentially performing unauthorized activities within the system.
Proposed Solution:
Integrate the revoke decision with a user activity monitoring tool to trigger alerts if a user attempts to access resources while their access is flagged for revocation.
Implement an automated mechanism to immediately cut off access as soon as misuse is detected.
