Felipe Ferri Paes
Biography
Felipe is a Research Associate at the CCAF, working within the Market and Infrastructure team, co-authoring and/or supporting over 10 publications. He led the work on the Future of Global Fintech Research Initiative and co-led three research studies on MSME Access to Finance in LATAM, ASEAN, and APAC. He has also contributed to and led some of the CCAF digital tools development, such as the CCAF Alternative Finance Atlas, UK Fintech Global Footprint Atlas, and the Open Banking Readiness Checker. Prior to joining CCAF, he had worked for many years in the steel industry within the logistics sector.

The global fintech industry remains robust as it transitions to a more sustainable growth phase
The industry maintains positive performance metrics, though at more moderate rates than during the COVID-19 pandemic surge. Average customer growth from 2020-2023 was positive, however, with a significant decline from 2020-2021, reflecting natural market normalisation as the industry matures beyond pandemic-driven digital acceleration. Encouragingly, revenue and profit growth are strong at, indicating that financial inclusion remains central to fintech value proposition, with traditionally underserved segments comprising significant portions of customer bases and tailored products of fintechs, mainly in EMDEs.
